Chief of Defence Force, Major-General (MG) Perry Lim, reviewed the 24th Specialist Cadet Graduation Parade at Pasir Laba Camp this evening. A total of 1,155 Specialist Cadets (SCTs) from the Singapore Army, the Republic of Singapore Navy and the Republic of Singapore Air Force graduated as specialists of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
Addressing the graduands at the parade, MG Lim spoke about the continued role that the specialists would play in securing Singapore's peace and security. "As we look ahead to SG100, all of you, as the next generation of leaders standing before me, have to play your part to ensure that the SAF continues to keep our home safe. We are relying on you to prepare and lead your soldiers well so that they can do their jobs when called upon," he said. MG Lim also reminded the graduands of their responsibility as commanders in helping their subordinates understand the importance of National Service (NS). He said, "As a commander, you will play a crucial role in helping your men and women understand and internalise the importance of National Service. Lead by example, and with conviction, empathise with your fellow soldiers, and engage them sincerely - be their friend, their guide, and their mentor."
The graduation parade marked the completion of the 22-week Specialist Cadet Course, where the SCTs trained under rigorous and realistic conditions to develop leadership and combat skills, and deepen their understanding of the other vocations in the SAF. The graduands were on parade in their ceremonial No. 1 uniforms, witnessed by their families, friends and senior SAF officers.
