Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen officiated at the opening ceremony of the new clubhouse of Temasek Club this afternoon. The club for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) officers, senior military experts and their families had relocated from Portsdown Road to its new premise at Rifle Range Road earlier this month.
The relocation was part of the club's efforts to cater to the growing membership as well as to make way for the national One-North Master Plan Development, which requires the land previously occupied at the Portsdown Road premise.
Established in 1982, Temasek Club makes continuous efforts to build camaraderie and esprit de corps amongst the SAF officers and senior military experts through activities and events. It also seeks to improve members’ and their families’ well-being by providing them with facilities and services that meet their recreational needs. The new clubhouse is about four times bigger and houses a range of amenities designed to accommodate members and their families. Facilities in the clubhouse include a 38-lane bowling centre, childcare centre, multi-purpose hall, swimming pool, lounges, banquet hall, private meeting and seminar rooms, gymnasium, study room, children playroom and guesthouses.
