Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, General (GEN) (Rtd) Prawit Wongsuwon, called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen this morning. GEN (Rtd) Prawit, who is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 21 to 23 May 2015, also inspected a Guard of Honour at the Ministry of Defence. As part of his visit, GEN (Rtd) Prawit will call on Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana later in the day.
GEN (Rtd) Prawit's visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Thailand. The Singapore Armed Forces and the Royal Thai Armed Forces interact regularly through high-level visits, professional exchanges, courses and exercises. These mutually beneficial interactions serve to enhance the professionalism and camaraderie between the personnel of both militaries.
