1,055 Graduate as SAF Specialists

Chief of Staff, General Staff Brigadier-General (BG) Lim Hock Yu reviewed the 22nd Specialist Cadet Graduation Parade at Pasir Laba Camp this evening. A total of 1,055 Specialists Cadets (SCTs) from the Singapore Army, the Republic of Singapore Navy and the Republic of Singapore Air Force graduated as Specialists of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

During his speech at the parade, BG Lim paid tribute to Singapore's founding Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew, and observed a minute of silence with parade participants and attendees. BG Lim said that the SAF's achievements today were only possible through Mr Lee's vision and inspiring leadership. Addressing the graduands, he added, "The strength of the SAF lies not in its advanced military hardware but in the continued commitment, competence and fighting spirit of our people. It is national servicemen, like you, who are the cornerstone of Singapore's defence."

The graduation parade marked the completion of the 22-week Specialist Cadet Course, where the SCTs trained under rigorous and realistic conditions to develop leadership and combat skills, and deepen their understanding of the other vocations in the SAF. Present at the parade were families and friends of the graduands and senior SAF officers.
