The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is participating in Exercise Suman Warrior, a Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) command post exercise, from 27 July to 7 August 2015. Hosted in Singapore by the SAF, the exercise involves 60 SAF personnel and over 140 personnel from Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
This year's exercise, the 25th in the series, aims to enhance interoperability among the FPDA armies. Commander of the 2nd Singapore Infantry Brigade, Colonel (COL) Leung Shing Tai is leading the SAF delegation this year. He said, "Exercise Suman Warrior is a valuable platform for enhancing professional military interactions among the FPDA countries. The exercise offers an excellent opportunity to build professional networks and personal friendships. We look forward to train together and learn from one another."
Formed in 1971, the FPDA has evolved over the years to remain a relevant part of the regional security architecture. The SAF's regular participation in FPDA exercises is testament to Singapore's strong commitment to the FPDA.
