Commander of United States Marine Corps (USMC) Forces, Pacific, Lieutenant General (LTG) John A. Toolan Jr. called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this afternoon. LTG Toolan, who is making his introductory visit to Singapore from 24 to 27 February 2015, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Ng Chee Meng and Chief of Army Major-General Perry Lim, and inspected a Guard of Honour. As part of his programme, LTG Toolan visited the Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre at the Changi Command and Control Centre after his visit to the Ministry of Defence. LTG Toolan will also be visiting the Multi-Mission Range Complex as well as the Murai Urban Training Facilities tomorrow.
LTG Toolan's visit underscores the excellent and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and the United States. The SAF and the USMC interact regularly through professional exchanges, training courses and bilateral and multilateral exercises. These extensive interactions have enhanced the interoperability between the two armed forces and strengthened the friendship and mutual understanding between their personnel.
