"Soldiers" in TV Advertisement are Actors
We refer to the letter "军人可否打广告" by Mr Chen Qi Liang (translated) which was published on 12 February 2015.MINDEF would like to clarify that the soldiers who were featured in the instant noodle commercial were not military personnel from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). They were actors who were reprising their fictional roles from a local movie production - "Ah Boys to Men".
The uniforms that were used by the actors in the advertisement were also not SAF uniforms, and neither did MINDEF/SAF approve nor endorse the advertisement/product.The SAF code of conduct requires all its servicemen to take pride in their uniform and to be exemplary in their conduct.
