The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU), Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Agus Supriatna, called on Second Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing after inspecting a Guard of Honour at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this afternoon. ACM Agus also called on Chief of Air Force Major-General Hoo Cher Mou, during which they reaffirmed the close ties and professional cooperation between both air forces. They also reiterated their mutual commitment to strengthening the friendship between the two air forces. ACM Agus will also visit Sembawang Air Base and Paya Lebar Air Base as part of his visit from 10 to 12 February 2015.
The introductory visit by ACM Agus underscores the strong and long-standing defence ties between Singapore and Indonesia. The Republic of Singapore Air Force and the Indonesian Air Force have been exercising together since 1980 under Exercise Elang Indopura. There are also regular visits, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of courses between the two Air Forces. These interactions have built mutual understanding and enhanced the professionalism and camaraderie between personnel from both air forces.
