The Commander of the United States Pacific Fleet (US PACFLT), Admiral (ADM) Scott Swift, called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning.
ADM Swift, who is in Singapore on an introductory visit from 26 to 28 August 2015, had earlier called on Chief of Defence Force Major-General Perry Lim and Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Lai Chung Han, after inspecting a Guard of Honour at MINDEF.
ADM Swift's visit underscores the excellent and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and the United States, and between both navies. The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the US PACFLT interact regularly through a wide range of activities, including visits, professional exchanges and exercises. Last month, the RSN and US PACFLT introduced Unmanned Aerial Vehicle operations to the bilateral Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise, underscoring the high interoperability of the two navies. Such interactions enhance both navies' professionalism and bolster mutual understanding and friendship between their personnel.
