About the MINDEF/SAF Time Capsule
To commemorate 50 years of Singapore's independence and SAF50, a MINDEF/SAF Time Capsule was commissioned and sealed at an officiating ceremony in the Ministry of Defence's (MINDEF) headquarters on 6th Aug 2015. This is the first time a Time Capsule has been commissioned in MINDEF, and its purpose is to capture and preserve the special moments of MINDEF's workforce for future generations. It will be displayed in a glass display case at level one of the MINDEF building after the officiating ceremony, to be opened during Singapore's 100th anniversary in August 2065.
Specifications
The Time Capsule is a stainless steel cylinder that measures 40cm by 150cm (diameter x height). Its lid is fastened by four tightening locks, and it is air tight. A stainless steel plate measuring 30cm by 20cm (length x breadth) is affixed to the front of the capsule with the following engraved wordings:

MINDEF general orders and directives
Commander's coins belonging to SAF Service Chiefs
SG50 reflection cards
Notes addressed to future senior MINDEF office holders

Department organisation charts and mission statements
Personal dockets of servicemen
Photographs taken during MINDEF/SAF events
SG50/SAF50 memorabilia
