Commander Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) Brigadier General (BG) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof bin Haji Abdul Rahman called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence this afternoon. BG Dato Yussof is in Singapore on a farewell visit from 17 to 18 November 2014. He had earlier called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Ng Chee Meng and inspected a Guard-of-Honour contingent. BG Dato Yussof will also be hosted by Chief of Army Major-General Perry Lim to an official dinner tonight.
The visit by BG Dato Yussof underscores the close and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and Brunei. The Singapore Army and the RBLF interact regularly through annual bilateral exercises, cross-attendance of courses, as well as professional exchanges. These interactions not only enhance the professionalism of the two armies, but also strengthen mutual understanding and personal friendships. BG Dato Yussof was conferred Singapore's prestigious military award, the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera) or Meritorious Service Medal (Military)] in March 2012 for his contributions in deepening relations between the two armies.
