New Zealand Navy Chief Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

The Chief of the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) Rear-Admiral (RADM) Jack Steer called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence this morning.
RADM Steer, who is in Singapore on an introductory visit from 8 to 11 June 2014, had also met with Chief of Navy RADM Ng Chee Peng after inspecting the Guard of Honour. As part of his visit, RADM Steer also visited the Changi Command and Control Centre at Changi Naval Base yesterday.
RADM Steer's visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and New Zealand. The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the RNZN interact regularly through professional exchanges and courses, as well as during bilateral exercises such as Exercise Lion Zeal. The RSN and the RNZN also interact under the ambit of the Five Power Defence Arrangements and the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM)-Plus. These extensive interactions have enhanced the interoperability and mutual understanding among the personnel of both navies.
