RSAF45@HEARTLANDS
The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will be celebrating its 45th Anniversary with Singaporeans from July to August 2014. The RSAF45@Heartlands exhibition is a culmination of a series of events planned over the year to commemorate the RSAF's 45th anniversary. RSAF45@Heartlands will be held in Toa Payoh (26 to 27 July), Jurong East (16 to 17 August), Sengkang (23 to 24 August) and Yishun (30 to 31 August).
RSAF45@Heartlands will feature different segments to showcase the RSAF's heritage, transformation journey, operational capabilities and readiness, as well as its professionalism and commitment. It will also include crowd favourites like the flight simulators, interactive games and activities, such as the RSAF photo booth and Facebook contests, as well as performances by the SAF Music and Drama Company to engage the public. Visitors can also look forward to meeting the RSAF's very own Black Knights aerobatics team members. RSAF45@Heartlands will also feature weapon systems static display.
RSAF EXHIBITS
The RSAF exhibitions comprise three segments: Segment 1 - Our Air Force Heritage and Transformation; Segment 2 - Experiencing our Air Force Capabilities and Segment 3 - Our People, Our Tribe. These three segments will provide visitors with a better understanding of the history and transformation of the RSAF and its 3rd Generation RSAF's operational capabilities, as well as engagement of RSAF personnel.
Segment 1 – Our Air Force Heritage and Transformation. Segment 1 features exhibits that showcase the RSAF's transformation journey over the past 45 years, allowing the visitors to better appreciate the RSAF's transformation and development.
Segment 2 - Experiencing Our Air Force Capabilities. Segment 2 features exhibits that showcase the operational capabilities of the 3rd Generation RSAF, such as the 24/7 Networked Air Defence system that protects Singapore's skies and employment of air power for integrated operations with the Army and Navy. In addition, Segment 2 exhibits will feature Search and Locate as well as Search and Rescue missions, contributions to multinational efforts in the stabilisation and reconstruction of Afghanistan, counter-piracy, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations. Segment 2 will also feature various interactive activities such as flying simulators and aviation-related games.
Segment 3 - Our People, Our Tribe. Segment 3 showcases the heart of the RSAF - our servicemen and women. In this segment, RSAF personnel will be on-site to share their Air Force Story with the public. Visitors can look forward to (1) meet members of the RSAF Black Knights and interact with our RSAF ambassadors (2) have their photos taken, (3) write well-wishes to the RSAF and our tribe, and (4) take part in RSAF Facebook contests to redeem exclusive gift packs to commemorate the RSAF 45th Anniversary. In addition to these activities, children can also collect balloons and sticker tattoos in this zone. There will also be an Air Force Careers booth to showcase the various career schemes and vocations in the RSAF. Additionally, the SAF's Music and Drama Company will be performing song and dance items to entertain the visitors.
RSAF WEAPON SYSTEMS STATIC DISPLAY
Visitors can look forward to seeing the Hermes 450 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) Weapon Systems such as, the Surface-to-air PYthon and DERby (SPYDER) missile system, I-HAWK, Mechanised Igla, RBS-70 GBAD system on board a V200 vehicle, and MISTRAL MANPADS.
OTHER PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES
In the lead-up to the RSAF45@Heartlands and during the events, the public will also be able to participate in online contests and quizzes on the RSAF's Facebook page to win exclusive prizes.
