A)    Physical "Thank You" Card

In line with the 2014 Total Defence (TD) campaign theme, "30 Years of Total Defence: Because You Played a Part", which aims to recognise and acknowledge Singaporeans for their efforts in nation building, "Thank You" Cards have been made available in shops, cafes and public areas all around Singapore.  

All one has to do is to pick up a card, available in a variety of vibrant designs, and pen a personal message to someone who has played a part in TD.

These notes of affirmation can also be written to organisations, such as the Singapore Police Force or the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, to thank them for contributing to Singapore's security and stability.

B)    Online "Thank You" Card

There will also be a parallel online "Thank You" movement at https://apps.facebook.com/youplayedapart. This Facebook application, launched on 28 Jan 2014, allows users to post a message on the walls of their Facebook friends, to thank them for playing a part in TD.

Senders can customise the card by selecting from a range of fun icons to describe their friend, as well as penning a personal message to them.

The first 800 people who receive a card and key in their addresses will receive a special "I tote-ally played a part" tote bag, which reinforces the message that they had played their part and are appreciated for their efforts.
