Reply to Media Queries on District Judge's Comments on Unlawful or Illegal Orders

At the conclusion of a court hearing on 18 Dec, the District Judge highlighted that servicemen need not obey all orders if they were "manifestedly illegal or unlawful". In response to media requests for MINDEF's response, MINDEF issued the following statement:

Commanders in the SAF are held to the highest standards of conduct, and are trained to understand the difference between lawful and unlawful orders. We do not condone our commanders giving unlawful orders, and those who do so will be seriously disciplined. Master Sergeant Lee Kong Kean has been released from regular service.
