Members of the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for Defence and Foreign Affairs and its Resource Panel as well as the GPC for Home Affairs and Law visited the Singapore Maritime Crisis Centre (SMCC) at the Changi Command and Control Centre in Changi Naval Base this afternoon. The visit was hosted by Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman.
During the visit, members were briefed on the maritime security environment in Singapore as well as how the SMCC facilitates information sharing, situation awareness, decision-making and operational coordination among our national agencies in response to maritime security threats.
As part of the visit, members were also brought to the Maritime and Port Authority's Port Operations and Control Centre Changi, the Maritime Security Task Force Operations Hub and the Information Fusion Centre (IFC). At the IFC, members were briefed on how it contributed to the search and locate effort for the missing Malaysian airliner MH370.
