Minister for Defence Makes Introductory Visit to Myanmar

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen is in Myanmar for an introductory visit. Dr Ng called on Myanmar President Thein Sein, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Defence Minister Lieutenant-General Wai Lwin.
Dr Ng and Senior General Min Aung Hlaing discussed bilateral defence cooperation and efforts to strengthen regional security. Dr Ng also affirmed support for Myanmar’s chairmanship of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) in 2014.
Dr Ng's visit underscores the warm and friendly bilateral defence relations between Myanmar and Singapore. In addition to the exchange of visits by defence officials, the two defence establishments also interact at multilateral forums such as the Shangri-La Dialogue, the ADMM and the ADMM-Plus.
