Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen; Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing and Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, spoke on issues pertaining to Singapore's defence and security at the Committee of Supply Debate 2013.
Dr Ng spoke on Singapore's regional security environment, as well as MINDEF's defence expenditure. He highlighted the crucial factors which have allowed Singapore to build a capable, professional and modernised SAF. He emphasised the need to further strengthen National Service and to appreciate the commitment of our NSmen. Dr Ng also touched on training and operational safety, international deployments as well as the bilateral defence relations with our neighbours, the major powers and key partners.
Mr Chan spoke on the need for prudent and optimal stewardship of resources; SAF's medical system and MINDEF's anti-corruption systems and processes.
Dr Maliki spoke on the progress of learning and training initiatives; meeting the aspirations of today's servicemen as well as Total Defence and Commitment to Defence.
