Senior Minister of State for Defence Chan Chun Sing called on French Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian yesterday (Singapore time) at the Hôtel de Brienne, Ministère de la Défense as part of his official visit to France.
At the invitation of the French Ministry of Defence, Mr Chan also visited the 50th International Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, Paris yesterday. Mr Chan will be visiting the Republic of Singapore Air Force's (RSAF) Advanced Jet Training detachment in Cazaux Air Base later today where he will meet RSAF personnel from the detachment and their families.
Mr Chan's visit underscores the strong defence ties between Singapore and France. Apart from the RSAF's training detachment in France, both armed forces and defence establishments interact regularly through exercises, professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses, and dialogues to discuss strategic issues of mutual interest. These interactions have strengthened the friendship and understanding between the two sides.
