Minister for Defence Meets US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel on the Sidelines of the 12th Shangri-La Dialogue

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen meeting with United States Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel on the sidelines of the 12th Shangri-La Dialogue.

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen met with United States Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel on the sidelines of the 12th Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) today. Minister Ng and Secretary Hagel reaffirmed the excellent and longstanding defence relationship between Singapore and the US, and their commitment to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation. They also discussed a wide range of regional security and defence issues. Secretary Hagel is attending SLD for the first time this year in his current capacity as Secretary of Defense, and also called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana today.

Dr Ng also held sideline meetings with ministers and senior officials from Australia, China, France, Japan, Sweden and the UK, and hosted a breakfast for ministers of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) today.
