The Commander of the United States Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) General (GEN) Herbert Carlisle called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence this afternoon.
As part of his introductory visit from 22 to 24 July 2013, GEN Carlisle also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Ng Chee Meng and Chief of Air Force Major-General Hoo Cher Mou earlier today after inspecting a Guard of Honour. Both sides reaffirmed the close professional cooperation between the two air forces and reiterated their mutual commitment to continue to strengthen defence ties. As part of his programme, GEN Carlisle visited Sembawang Air Base this morning and will visit Paya Lebar Air Base later this afternoon.
GEN Carlisle's visit highlights the excellent and long-standing defence ties between Singapore and the United States. The Republic of Singapore Air Force and the PACAF interact regularly through bilateral exercises and professional exchanges. These interactions have enhanced the interoperability between the two air forces as well as the professional rapport and mutual understanding between their personnel.
