N.E.mation!, the annual animation competition for students, returns for its seventh year. Since its launch in 2007, N.E.mation! has attracted more than 9,500 students participants. No prior experience is required as students will undergo animation content development and animation training workshops to equip them with skills to produce their own one-minute animation clips. The top 10 finalists' animation clips are screened on local free-to-air television channels and other screening platforms.
As 2013 marks 10 years since the SARS epidemic hit Singapore, it provides an opportunity to reaffirm the message that when Singaporeans work as one, we can overcome challenges that the nation may face. In line with this, students were invited to develop stories about how Singaporeans have stood together to overcome challenges based on the theme "Together We Overcome".
The top 10 clips, created by teams of eight schools, comprise a mix of serious and light-hearted stories produced creatively using a variety of mediums. The table below provides key details on these clips and the teams behind them.

The animation clips of the top 10 finalist teams will be judged by industry professionals such as Jason Ho (Animator, Blue Sky Studios) and Raman Hui (Animation Supervisor, DreamWorks Animation SKG), individuals from the creative industries such as singer Kit Chan, academics and government officials. In addition, the public can view and vote for their three favourite clips from 18 January to 7 February 2013 at www.nemation.sg, via the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/nemation), SMS (SMS NE7[1st choice],[2nd choice],[3rd choice]NRICFull Name to 76677) or at the mobile webpage (m.nemation.sg) on their smartphones. The winning team will win a coveted visit to DreamWorks Animation Studio in USA!

About N.E.mation!
N.E.mation! is a digital animation competition organised by Nexus for youths to express their thoughts on Total Defence through a one-minute animation clip. With training and guidance, students with no prior experience in animation have been able to produce clips of broadcast quality which were screened in cinemas and on free-to-air television. [1] The Annecy International Animated Film Festival is considered the "Oscars of Animation"; it is one of the most important animation festivals in the world. In 2008, "Just Because" by CHIJ St. Joseph's Convent) became the first entry from Singapore to be officially selected for the festival since it started in 1960.
[2] "Nation Moulders" by Jurong Junior College is the first Singapore entry to be chosen as an Official Selection in the Hiroshima International Animation Festival since it started in 1985.
