Fact Sheet: Total Defence Symposium - Recognising our Employers, NSmen and Civil Resource Owners

The Total Defence Awards are presented to employers and civil resource owners in appreciation of their outstanding contributions to Total Defence. Participation in the Total Defence Awards is voluntary. There are three different award categories:

  1. Minister for Defence Award
The award is the highest accolade conferred on organisations that have shown exemplary support for Total Defence. Recipients of the Minister for Defence Award are also inducted into the Minister for Defence Awards (MiDAs) League for a five-year term. The League is structured as an alumnus and members serve as advocates for Total Defence. This year, the Minister for Defence Award will be presented during the NS45 Commemoration Dinner to be held in October 2012.

  2. Distinguished Defence Partner Award
The award is presented in appreciation of organizations that have consistently demonstrated outstanding support for Total Defence.

  3. Meritorious Defence Partner Award
The award is presented in appreciation of organisations that have shown commendable support for Total Defence.

This year, a total of 10, 115 and 380 companies will be receiving the Minister for Defence, Distinguished Defence Partner and Meritorious Defence Partner Awards, respectively.

Honorary Members of the MiDAs League

For employers, on the fifth year of their term, the MiDAs League members will be evaluated for NSfriendly policies and management of NS-related matters through an online assessment and/or an on-site visit. Similarly, the civil resource owners who are MiDAS League members are evaluated on the fifth year of their term for their operational readiness, responsiveness and performance during peacetime mobilisation exercises. Organisations that continue to display outstanding commitment and support for Total Defence will be appointed as Honorary members of the MiDAs League, where they will serve another five-year term.

This year, a total of 9 companies have been inducted into the Honorary Members of the MiDAs League.
