The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) acquired six Sikorsky S-70B Naval Helicopters in 2005. The naval helicopter enhances the Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN's) Formidable-class Stealth frigates' anti-surface and anti-submarine warfighting capabilities.
The integration of the RSN's frigates with the naval helicopters enables the frigates to undertake anti-surface and anti-submarine missions at longer ranges. Each frigate's sophisticated Command, Control and Communications suite allows it to network with a wide variety of SAF assets. This increases force-level awareness and mission effectiveness.
The RSN has six Formidable-class Stealth frigates - RSS Formidable, RSS Intrepid, RSS Steadfast, RSS Tenacious, RSS Stalwart and RSS Supreme - each of which is designed to carry the S-70B Naval Helicopter.
