Security measures applicable to all persons entering MINDEF/SAF premises
We thank Mr Thomas Loh for his letter titled "Lack of proper checks on women entering army camps", published online on 4 Apr 2012.
The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) takes operational and information security very seriously. Stringent measures are in place to ensure the security of MINDEF and Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) installations and assets at all times. All personnel and visitors, regardless of gender, will be subjected to a security screening before they enter MINDEF/SAF premises. This includes verification of identity and a search of personal belongings. If the authorised officer on site assesses that a body search is required for a female, a servicewoman will be activated to conduct the body search, out of public view.
