In response to Madam Chong Yuen Foong's ST Online Forum Letter on "Silence please, at least for PSLE", MINDEF replied:
"Dear Madam Chong, thank you for your feedback. MINDEF coordinates with the MOE to ensure that RSAF training would not cause disruption to all national level examinations, including the PSLE. Our records showed that on 16 September 2011, all training flights from Sembawang, Tengah and Paya Lebar Air Bases were conducted outside of the PSLE listening comprehension examinations period. The noise Madam Chong was referring to could be from the flights that were taking off and landing just before or after the listening comprehension. We will continue to work closely with the MOE to ensure school exams are not disrupted while RSAF maintains its operational readiness and proficiency."
