NSmen receive remuneration for each day of ICT
We refer to Mr Leow Zi Xiang's 21 Feb letter "Remuneration for overseas ICT?"
Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) may be required to serve their In-Camp Trainings (ICTs) over weekends depending on their unit's training and operational requirements.
NSmen who attend ICT are given service pay for each day of training, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. This method of remunerating NSmen applies to both local and overseas ICT. As such, the NSmen involved in the overseas exercise that Mr Leow referred to would have received their service pay for every day of their service, including weekends. On top of service pay, NSmen can claim make-up pay from the Ministry of Defence, to cover the difference between the service pay and their loss of income as a result of their ICT. NSmen who have not received their service pay for days of active service including over weekends should contact the NS Call Centre at 1800-eNSNSNS (1800-3676767) for assistance.
