CPR training implemented as part of BMT since Sep 2010
We refer to Mr Rick Lim's 9 Feb letter, ‘Incorporate CPR Courses into NS training?’
We thank you for your suggestion to incorporate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) courses into NS training. The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) recognises that CPR is a critical life-saving skill in medical emergencies. In line with national effort to increase the number of CPR-trained people in Singapore, CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training, accredited by the National Resuscitation Council, have been implemented as part of Basic Military Training for all recruits since Sep 2010. This initiative will equip our servicemen with critical life-saving skills that can be applied beyond National Service.
