The National Education Gaming Championship (NEGC) is the first gaming competition organised by Nexus, Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and supported by the Ministry of Education to engage youths in National Education through gaming.
NEGC is open to all secondary school, Institute of Technical Education (ITE), junior college and polytechnic students. Schools must form a team of 19 members in order to compete. Each team comprises two seven-man Infantry Sections and a Headquarters to form a platoon in the game. Each school is allowed to enter more than one team for the competition. All participating teams are required to undergo three sessions of three-hour training to learn how to play the game and the weaponry and networked capabilities of the 3rd Generation Army.
A total of 64 teams representing 38 secondary schools, ITEs and polytechnics registered for NEGC 2010. Training sessions were held from 2 Aug 2010 to 8 Oct 2010 while preliminaries took place from 8 to 12 Nov 2010. These sessions were conducted at GameHaven, H.I.G.H. Café and Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary).Virtual Battlespace 2 (VBS2) is the official game used in NEGC. VBS2 is a PC-based virtual simulation training software used to train the 3rd Generation Army in the Singapore Armed Forces. During each round, depending on which "Force" or side the competitors are from, teams must attack or defend two buildings. The round is won by either eliminating the opponent’s team, or capturing/defending both buildings within a time limit. Teams will have to play on both the Defence and Attack Forces in each round.

Second Place S$2000 + School Trophy & Individual Medals
Third and Fourth Places S$1000 + School Trophy & Individual Medals
Fifth to Eighth Places S$750 + School Trophy
