At the parade, President Nathan presented the State Colours to this year's Best Combat Unit, the 1st Commando Battalion, while Mr Teo presented the Best Unit and Best NS Unit awards to 23 SAF units. Mr Teo also presented the SAF NSman of the Year awards to 15 NSmen during the post-parade reception.

Mr Teo officiated at the rededication ceremony held at Temasek Polytechnic. Delivering the SAF Day message, Mr Teo thanked the NSmen for their service and commitment towards the SAF. He said, "How strong the SAF is depends on the calibre, attitude, sense of commitment and fighting spirit of each and every one of you, whether you serve in the Army, Navy or Air Force, whether you are regulars or national servicemen." Mr Teo also expressed his appreciation to the families and employers of the NSmen for their support and encouragement. The other three rededication ceremonies were officiated by Minister, Prime Minister's Office Lim Swee Say, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, and Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang.
