Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen Reaffirms Strong Defence Ties with Counterparts on the Sidelines of the 59th Munich Security Conference

 

 

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen called on German Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius yesterday. During their meeting, Dr Ng and Mr Pistorius reaffirmed the warm and growing defence relations between Singapore and Germany. Dr Ng expressed appreciation for the German Federal Ministry of Defence's support for the SAF's training in Germany since 2009. Both sides also exchanged views on geopolitical and security developments, and reaffirmed the importance of regional peace and stability. Dr Ng also attended a luncheon hosted by Mr Pistorius and met with several foreign counterparts.

While in Munich, Dr Ng had bilateral engagements with Estonia Minister of Defence Hanno Pevkur, Netherlands Minister of Defence Kajsa Ollongren, United Kingdom Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace, Australia Minister for Defence Industry, International Development and the Pacific Pat Conroy, and Vice Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of China's 13th National People's Congress Fu Ying.


Dr Ng also attended a dinner jointly organised by the Aspen Strategy Group, the Munich Security Conference (MSC) and the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS) for decision-makers across government and industry.
