Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen met with the Chinese Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, National People's Congress Fu Ying last night (Singapore time) on the sidelines of the 53rd Munich Security Conference (MSC). 

Both sides reaffirmed the warm and friendly relationship between Singapore and China. Dr Ng emphasised Singapore's belief that a stable, prosperous and successful China would benefit Singapore and the region, and reiterated Singapore's continued support for China's success. Dr Ng and Mdm Fu also engaged in frank discussions on regional security issues and agreed on the usefulness of enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation, especially through the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus. 

Dr Ng is on a three-day visit to Munich to attend the MSC from 17 to 19 February 2017. He addressed the Munich Young Leaders Round Table on the reset of global order earlier today and will speak on the panel "Pacific No More? Security in East Asia and the Korean Peninsula" at the MSC later today (Singapore time).
