Singapore and Australia Navies Mark Completion of Bilateral Maritime Exercise Singaroo

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) conducted the 23rd edition of Exercise Singaroo – a bilateral maritime exercise between both navies. Held from 15 to 18 September 2026 at Fleet Base East, Sydney, this year’s exercise comprised a series of shore-based serials, people-to-people interactions, as well as professional exchanges on the P-8A Poseidon aircraft and conventional warfare tactics. The exercise involved personnel from the RSN’s Formidable-class frigate RSS Supreme, and the RAN’s Anzac-class frigate HMAS Ballarat.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, RSN Fleet Commander Colonel Bertram Ang highlighted the value of the exercise in deepening cooperation and coordination between both navies. He said, “The true strengths of Exercise Singaroo are the professional trust, the shared values, and the enduring people-to-people relationships built over decades, that have provided a strong foundation for our continued trust and interoperability.”

First conducted in 1995, Exercise Singaroo continues to underscore the strong and multifaceted defence ties between Singapore and Australia. Beyond bilateral and multilateral exercises, both armed forces also interact frequently through high-level visits, regular dialogues, professional exchanges, and the cross-attendance of courses.
