The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) General (GEN) Dudung Abdurachman called on Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Heng Chee How at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this afternoon. During their meeting, Mr Heng and GEN Dudung reaffirmed the strong ties and close cooperation between Singapore and Indonesia, as well as the commitment to continue to strengthen defence ties.
GEN Dudung, who is in Singapore from 17 November 2022 to 20 November 2022 for his introductory visit, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and Chief of Army Major-General David Neo, after inspecting the Guard of Honour at MINDEF.
Earlier this morning, GEN Dudung visited the Headquarters 3rd Singapore Division at Jurong Camp, where he received a brief on the 3rd Generation Combined Arms Division, took a familiarisation ride on the Terrex and also viewed static displays of Army platforms and equipment.
GEN Dudung's visit to Singapore underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Indonesia. Both armies interact regularly through high-level visits, professional exchanges, cross attendance of courses and bilateral exercises such as Exercise Safkar Indopura and Exercise Chandrapura. These interactions have strengthened cooperation and deepened mutual understanding between the two armies.
