Reply to Media Query on Incident at one location of NDP 2023 Heartland Celebrations

NDP 2023 EXCO and Sport Singapore are aware of social media posts regarding an incident involving a member of public at the NDP 2023 GetActive! Singapore Heartland Celebrations fireworks displays at Our Tampines Hub on 9 Aug 23.

The safety of participants and attendees at NDP 2023 events is a key priority for us. We would like to assure everyone that for fireworks displays, including that at Our Tampines Hub on 9 Aug 23, safety measures such as safety distance cordons between the fireworks firing point and attendees, strict access controls to the firing point, monitoring of wind speed, as well as onsite medical personnel and ambulance, were all in place.

We are carrying out a thorough investigation of the member of public’s feedback. Our checks thus far showed that the onsite medical staff had provided timely medical assistance, and contact details were exchanged to facilitate any follow-up. We have also gotten in touch with the member of public to gather more details on the incident and render further assistance.
