Minister of State for Defence Associate Professor (A/P) Koo Tsai Kee reviewed the 5th Specialist Cadet Graduation Parade at Pasir Laba Camp this evening, where 988 Specialist Cadets (SCT) graduated as specialists of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
Speaking at the parade, A/P Koo highlighted the heavy responsibilities that the graduating specialists will have to bear as leaders and commanders. He said, "As their commander and leader, you will have to lead them with conviction and lead them by example. To earn their trust, you must ensure that you are technically and tactically proficient all the time." He also emphasised that the specialists perform a crucial role to act as the "critical link between the soldiers and the SAF Leadership", and encouraged them to "forge a strong partnership with the officers to create a cohesive unit."
The parade marked the completion of the 22-week Specialist Cadet Course where the SCTs underwent rigorous and realistic training to develop leadership and combat skills, and deepen their understanding of the other Army vocations in the SAF. Also present at the parade were the families and friends of the graduands and senior SAF officers.
