Singapore and Kuwait Reaffirm Warm and Friendly Defence Relations

President of the Kuwait National Security Bureau Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah met with Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence earlier this morning. Sheikh Thamer is visiting Singapore under the S. R. Nathan Fellowship at the invitation of Senior Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman and delivered the 4th S. R. Nathan Distinguished Lecture on "Geo-Political Challenges in the Gulf Region" on 14 November. 

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the warm and friendly defence ties between Singapore and Kuwait. They had a wide-ranging discussion on security developments in the Middle East, and reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation to counter the threat of transnational terrorism. Dr Ng also expressed appreciation for Kuwait's support for the SAF's deployments as part of the multinational coalition to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
