Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen will be in Waiouru Training Area in New Zealand on 16 January 2017 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Exercise Thunder Warrior. Dr Ng will also be meeting New Zealand Minister of Defence Gerry Brownlee for the inaugural Singapore-New Zealand Defence Minister’s Meeting, where they will discuss regional security issues and bilateral defence cooperation.
Exercise Thunder Warrior, conducted annually in New Zealand since 1997, and the establishment of the annual Singapore-New Zealand Defence Ministers’ Meeting, underscore the close and long-standing defence relationship between both countries.
Dr Ng will be accompanied by Chief of Air Force Major-General Mervyn Tan, Chief of Army Major-General Melvyn Ong, and other Ministry of Defence and Singapore Armed Forces officials during his visit to Exercise Thunder Warrior.
