Joint Reply by MINDEF and MHA to Media Query on Unintended Disclosure of Personal Data by MINDEF Contractors

MINDEF and MHA are aware of the unintended disclosure of personal data of 427 Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) from the SAF and Home Team, which occurred on 12 June after the NSmen had redeemed credits for their NS Excellence Award (NSEA) and Celebratory Gifts for NSmen (CG). This occurred as the vendor had deployed an erroneous programme script on the NSEA and CG systems to send out confirmation emails to inform servicemen of their redemption details.

The company has since notified and apologised to the affected servicemen. The company has also indicated that this is an isolated incident and the redemption services for all servicemen, including the affected servicemen, are not affected. MINDEF and MHA are investigating this incident and have put in place measures to prevent a recurrence. NSmen who have queries may approach the NS Call Centre at 1800-3676767.
