Senior Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman is in Dubai from 12 to 14 Nov to attend the Dubai Airshow 2017. The Dubai Airshow is held biennially under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and ruler of the Emirate of Dubai. Inaugurated in 1989, the Dubai Airshow is organised by Tarsus F&E LLC Middle East in conjunction with the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Airports and the UAE Armed Forces.
Earlier this afternoon, Dr Maliki called on UAE Minister of State for Defence Affairs Mohammed Bin Ahmad Al Bawardi. Both sides reaffirmed the warm and friendly relationship between Singapore and the UAE and discussed ways to further the bilateral defence relationship. Dr Maliki expressed Singapore's appreciation for the UAE's support for the Singapore Armed Forces' deployments to the Middle East, as part of the multinational coalition against the extremist threat posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
While in Dubai, Dr Maliki also took the opportunity to host a dinner for Singapore community leaders based in Dubai.
