Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance and National Development, Ms Indranee Rajah reviewed a commissioning parade at the SAFTI Military Institute this evening. A total of 405 cadets, comprising 320 from the Singapore Army, 49 from the Republic of Singapore Navy, and 36 from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, were commissioned as officers of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
Speaking at the parade, Ms Indranee reflected on the uncertain global environment and emphasised the SAF’s stabilising role. She said, "Amidst this turbulence, Singapore remains steadfast and dependable. We hold firm to our principles, our belief in international law, and our support for a rules-based order. A strong SAF gives Singapore and Singaporeans confidence and peace of mind.”
Closing her speech, Ms Indranee encouraged the graduands to lead by example, while putting the collective before the self. She said, "As officers, it is your duty to lead and care for the men and women under your command, so that we have an SAF that is strong, resilient, fully committed to excellence and with high morale. Honour the legacy of those who came before you and pave the way for those who will come after you."
The parade marked the completion of 38 weeks of rigorous training at the Officer Cadet School. The realistic training conducted during the course sharpened the cadets' combat, planning and leadership skills. The newly commissioned officers will go on to assume command, instructional or staff appointments in the SAF. Also present at the parade were Chief of Army (COA) Major-General (MG) Cai Dexian, senior Ministry of Defence officials and SAF officers, as well as families and friends of the newly commissioned officers.
