Brunei Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

Brunei Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence Brigadier General (BG)(Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi Bin Haji Perudin called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen today morning. During their meeting, Dr Ng and Dato Alirupendi reaffirmed the close and long-standing relationship between the Singapore and Brunei, and exchanged views on the regional and international security environment.
Dato Alirupendi, who is in Singapore from 11 to 13 Jun 2024 for his introductory visit, also called on Permanent Secretary (Defence) Mr Chan Heng Kee this morning. Mr Chan and Dato Alirupendi reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen the bilateral defence relationship through collaboration in areas of mutual interest, and welcomed further cooperation on the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) and ADMM-Plus. As part of his programme, Dato Alirupendi will also receive a brief on MINDEF Communications Organisation (MCO) and visit the Republic of Singapore Navy's Maritime Security and Response Flotilla at RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base.
Dato Alirupendi's visit to Singapore reaffirms the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Brunei. Both ministries interact regularly through high-level visits, professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses, and bilateral exercises. These interactions have enhanced the professionalism and strengthened the ties between the two ministries.
