A fire broke out in a bunk of an unoccupied, access-restricted accommodation block at the Basic Military Training Centre (BMTC) on 11 July 2025.
The fire alarm was triggered at 10:15am, and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was activated. The fire was promptly extinguished by Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel before SCDF's arrival.
No BMTC staff or trainees were injured. No personnel were at risk as the area is not currently used for accommodation or training.
The SAF remains committed to upholding high standards of fire safety to ensure a safe environment for our service personnel.
The SAF is assisting the SCDF in investigating the cause of the fire, as well as an earlier fire incident in June. As the investigations are ongoing, we are unable to provide further comments at this juncture.
