Remarks by Senior Minister of State for Defence Zaqy Mohamad in Amman, Jordan for the Delivery of Singapore’s Seventh Tranche of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

We have delivered Singapore’s seventh tranche of humanitarian aid package for Gaza here in Jordan via the RSAF’s Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT).

I would like to thank the servicemen and women of the SAF for providing support for this mission, working under challenging conditions in this zone of conflict. They have displayed professionalism and commitment. We are proud to represent the care and compassion of all Singaporeans for the affected Palestinians in Gaza.

I would like to thank our aid partners, including Relief Singapore, Mercy Relief, CHARIS and the Ministry of Health (MOH). Many Singaporeans have also readily come forward to contribute humanitarian relief supplies. We hope this will go towards supporting relief efforts for the affected Palestinians in Gaza, especially in the upcoming month of Ramadan.

I would also like to express appreciation to our Jordanian counterparts for their strong support, which has allowed us to cooperate closely on the speedy provision of humanitarian aid package to Gaza. The Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation will coordinate and deliver the humanitarian aid supplies to Gaza.

MINDEF/SAF is closely monitoring the developments following the multiphase ceasefire and hostage release agreement in Gaza, which has paved the way for increased delivery of aid to Gaza. Aside from delivering aid, we have also arrived in Amman with SAF Planners. They will be on ground with me to assess the needs and the feasibility of other avenues of contribution to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Gaza, such as the deployment of medical teams. Over the next few days, we will be meeting with Jordanian and Egyptian counterparts to explore such opportunities.
