The Chief of the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) Rear Admiral (RADM) Garin Golding called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) earlier today.
RADM Golding, who is on his introductory visit to Singapore from 11 to 13 February 2025, also called on Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng and Chief of Navy RADM Sean Wat after inspecting the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. RADM Golding will also visit RSS Tenacious, a Formidable-class Frigate, at RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base.
As both countries commemorate 60 years of diplomatic ties in 2025, RADM Golding’s introductory visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and New Zealand. The RSN and RNZN interact regularly through professional exchanges, visits, cross-attendance of professional courses, our bilateral Exercise Lion Zeal, and multilateral exercises under the ambit of the Five Power Defence Arrangements, the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus, and the Western Pacific Naval Symposium. These interactions have strengthened the mutual trust and interoperability between the two navies, as well as the professional rapport and ties between their personnel.
