A total of 1035 cadets, comprising 879 from the Singapore Army, 74 from the Republic of Singapore Navy, 14 from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, and 68 from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence will be graduating as specialists and military experts of the SAF. In recognition of this significant milestone in their journey as new specialists and military experts of the SAF, the cadets will receive their bayonets at decentralised small-scale graduating ceremonies organised at the Formation level from 11 to 17 February 2022.
Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Transport, Mr Chee Hong Tat, addressed the graduands in a recorded video message as the Reviewing Officer for the proceedings. Mr Chee commended the SAF for maintaining a high level of operational readiness and effectively carrying out critical operations such as island defence, protection of key installations, maritime security, air defence and counter-terrorism, while supporting national efforts in the fight against COVID-19. He said, "The SAF stepped up when duty called, without affecting your primary duty of keeping Singapore safe and secure… Training courses, including those at the Specialist Cadet School, adapted with the necessary health and safety precautionary measures to ensure the well-being of our servicemen and women."
Mr Chee congratulated the cadets on proving themselves worthy of their new rank. He said, "Although many uncertainties lie ahead, I am confident that the training you have received will enable all of you to remain resilient and ready to lead during these challenging times… When you feel challenged, recall the rigorous training that you have gone through, and how you have persevered to graduate as a professional Warfighter, Trainer and Leader of the SAF."
The cadets have completed 22 weeks of rigorous training at SCS. The realistic training conducted during the course sharpened the cadets' combat, planning and leadership skills. The newly graduated specialist cadets will go on to assume command and training appointments in the SAF.
The ceremonies are attended in-person by family members of the cadets. All guests have to be fully vaccinated and test negative for COVID-19 as part of pre-event testing protocols. The ceremonies have also been staggered to minimise cross interactions between servicemen and guests, and common areas are also sanitised between each session.
