Senior Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman will be representing Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen to attend the launch ceremony of the Trilateral Air Patrol (TAP) by Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines at the Subang Air Base, Malaysia on 12 October 2017. Singapore and Brunei will be attending the ceremony as observers at the invitation of the three member states of the TAP. While in Subang, Dr Maliki will also meet the Defence Ministers from the countries attending the ceremony to discuss regional counter-terrorism efforts and areas of cooperation.
Singapore is supportive of the efforts to enhance regional counter-terrorism efforts; the TAP will complement the Trilateral Maritime Patrol (TMP) in combatting maritime security threats and terrorism. In June 2017, Dr Maliki had represented Dr Ng at the launch of the TMP by Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, where both Brunei and Singapore were invited as observers. MINDEF/SAF has offered our Information Fusion Centre to assist and facilitate maritime information sharing for the TMP.
