Indonesian Defence Minister Reaffirms Close and Long-standing Ties During Call with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong

Indonesian Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto is in Singapore for his introductory visit from 10 to 12 June 2022 and to attend the 19th Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD). As part of his visit, Mr Prabowo called on Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana this afternoon. Senior Minister of State for Defence Zaqy Mohammad was present at the call.
PM Lee and Mr Prabowo reaffirmed the close and long-standing bilateral and people-to-people relations between Singapore and Indonesia. This is underscored by the signing of a set of agreements under the expanded Framework during the Leaders' Retreat in January 2022. PM Lee and Mr Prabowo also exchanged views on global concerns such as counter-terrorism, maritime and food security, and reiterated the importance of strengthening cooperation and trust between both countries.
