Chief of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

The Chief of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Air Marshal (AM) Stephen Chappell called on Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing earlier this afternoon. During their meeting, Mr Chan reaffirmed the strong bilateral defence relationship between Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the RAAF, and exchanged views on recent geopolitical developments.

AM Chappell, who is in Singapore from 10 to 12 July 2025 for his introductory visit, also called on Chief of Air Force Major-General (MG) Kelvin Fan after inspecting the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. As part of his visit, AM Chappell had also visited Sembawang Air Base this afternoon and engaged with RSAF personnel.

AM Chappell's visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Australia. The RSAF and RAAF interact regularly through bilateral and multilateral training exercises such as Exercise Churinga and Exercise Pitch Black, professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses. These mutually beneficial interactions have enhanced the interoperability between both air forces and deepened the rapport between their personnel.
