Minister for Defence Attends 2nd REAIM Summit

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen attended the Opening Session of the 2nd Responsible AI in the Military Domain (REAIM) Summit on 9 September 2024. The opening session was attended by the Republic of Korea (ROK) Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Cho Tae-yul and ROK Minister of National Defense Mr Kim Yong-hyun, and distinguished leaders, high-level stakeholders from academia, industry, civil society, and international organisations from 96 countries.
As part of his visit to the ROK, Dr Ng also met with National Defense Minister Mr Kim. They reaffirmed the warm and friendly bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and the ROK, as well as discussed regional and international security developments. Dr Ng thanked the ROK for hosting the 2nd REAIM and expressed appreciation for ROK’s commitment to advancing international norms and standards on responsible AI. Dr Ng’s visit to the ROK underscores the warm and friendly defence relations between Singapore and the ROK.
Co-hosted by the ROK, the Netherlands, Singapore, Kenya, and the United Kingdom, the REAIM Summit is held from 9 to 10 September 2024 in Seoul, ROK. The REAIM Summit is a platform for global discussion across various regions and with various stakeholders on ways to ensure responsible military application of AI.
